0 Tony Hawk's Photo Stirs Controversy

A seemingly innocuous photo posted by professional skateboarder Tony Hawk has prompted a bit of an uproar on Twitter and Instagram the past few days.
Hawk, one of the most renowned skateboarders ever, won nine X-Games gold medals in a seven-year span and served as the inspiration for a generation.
The San Diego native loves the sport so much that he even has a 5,000 square foot skate park in his backyard, where he often practices with his children.
Earlier this week Hawk uploaded this photo, of himself and his 4-year-old daughter, Kadence. Hawk wrote, "Updated frontside fling photo courtesy of @msk8blake. She is learning to skate on her own, so we might not be doing this much longer."
You'll notice in the photo that neither Hawk nor his daughter is wearing a helmet. Hawk, who has more than 3 million followers on Twitter, quickly received tons of angry tweets suggesting that he and his daughter should be wearing more protection.
Hawk did not respond to any followers individually, but he did post another tweet with a message for all those who thought what he was doing was dangerous.
Hawk's response was as follows: "...For those that say I endanger my child: it's more likely that you will fall while walking on the sidewalk than I will while skating with my daughter."
You've got to love Hawk's confidence, but his daughter is only 4. Maybe she could at least wear knee and elbow pads.
